Beat Burnout

5–8 minutes

As someone who has had a somewhat rough go of life so far, I’ve learned a lot of lessons. A LOT of lessons. Fun thing about it is most of them have to do with my mental and spiritual health, which correlate pretty intensively. Today, I want to discuss dealing with burnout, which is something I tend to have issues with pretty regularly. I have this want to try and learn as much about life: occupationally, spiritually, mentally, physically, so really as much -ally information as possible. Well shit, learning the information is one thing. Actually implementing the information is something completely different. I’m doing as well as I can to put the information to practice, but most of the time I tend to let my brain overcomplicate things to the point where I put a good amount of negative energy towards that which I really want to incorporate in my life. However, I want to share something with you that I have started to implement in my life pretty thoroughly. It’s KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. However that anagram is something I’m going to change here, because even though it gives it that emphasis, it has a negative connotation towards it. So from here on out, it will be known as Keep It Simple Superhero, because that’s what we all are honestly, Superheroes. 

We all experience dealing with burnout. It can cause us to become agitated, restless, mentally imbalanced, physically drained, there’s multitudes of side effects and after effects that come from becoming burned out. Once the effect starts to take a foothold, it’s not long before it takes a stronghold. Honestly, the best way to deal with burnout is to take care of it before it becomes an issue. I know that with me personally, once the effects of burnout start to manifest, it has a tendency of snowballing real quick. I freeze once the burnout begins, which seems like an almost perfect universal correlation of the law of cause and effect. So, the best way for me to deal with it is to deal with it before it can become the devastating manifestation that it can become. Here’s the best ways I have found to deal with burnout. 

  • TIMERS ARE YOUR FRIEND – I personally use the Pomodoro Technique. It is the method of setting a 25 min work timer. During that 25 min you focus on the task at hand specifically. You block out all outside distractions and put the work in. Afterwards, you set a 5 min time to have down time. Take that 5 min to do whatever you want, meditate, eat, exercise, scroll social media and rot your brain for a few minutes, smoke a bowl and elevate yourself for a few minutes, whatever your precious little heart desires. Not only does it help with burnout by giving you an allowance to relax, which is the focus of that 5 minutes, but it also helps with ADD, ADHD, any focus issues by removing all the imaginary distractions that you create around your youniverse. 
  • MINDFULNESS – I meditate daily. It helps me calm my mind and open myself to the universe. Mindfulness meditation helps me become more in the now. I use my practice in the mediation aspect to incorporate it more thoroughly in my life, by practicing mindfulness in all my daily events. By being mindful of whatever it is you’re working on, being connected with your inner self while you work on whatever it is that is bringing you joy and excitement in your life, you look at it with a more loving gleam. Approaching a mindful, loving, grateful approach to those things in your life is definitely going to reduce the chances of burnout greatly. 
  • BOUNDARIES – You are here experiencing this experience of life for yourself. Granted, we all have persons in our life that we either allow or are obligated to have in our lives, but you have to be able to set boundaries to give yourself a sense of peace. Be sure to know what you will not allow to affect your energy, and let people know that. As one who is working on controlling my own mind, I can honestly say that if you allow other people to have an effect on it you’re in for a bad time. And it doesn’t just have to be people. Setting boundaries for yourself with how much social media you consume, what you allow yourself to eat/drink, what you allow and don’t allow yourself to do. Be disciplined and allow yourself some self love to better yourself by setting boundaries. \
  • ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES THAT BRING YOU JOY – Make sure to incorporate in your day things that you truly enjoy. That’s really the whole point of this experience, to enjoy what The Creator has gifted us with. That’s why it’s called the present. It truly is a gift, so rip it open and have fun with it. I’m sure you all have hobbies or hustles or hysterics that bring you enjoyment. There’s something in your life that when you do it, you can’t help but grin like the Cheshire Cat. Make sure to incorporate whatever that is more in your life. I’ve come to the realization that having as much fun as possible is the point of this life. So I’m honestly, enjoying the fuck out of all of life. I highly encourage all of you to get to this point that I’m at, but start with one thing, and go from there. You’ll figure it out. I know you will. 
  • HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE – Here’s some fun facts. We are 70% water. The earth is 70% water. We are electromagnetic beings. The earth is an electromagnetic being. Electricity moves in currents. The oceans move in currents. You start to see the picture here. Hydration is important for you to be running efficiently at optimal levels. And that’s only one side of the coin. What you eat affects at what level you’re running at. Processed foods, sugars, GMO’s, high-fat grease, they all have a negative correlation to your ability to run at optimal efficiency. Eat natural foods, incorporate raw fruits and vegetables, cut down on sugar intake, there’s countless things to do to help you be the best performing you. Now, first and foremost is to be able to treat yourself with gentleness and prioritize your mental well being. Mental Health Issues are rampant in this country right now, and a lot of it is from the powers that be to cause us to not be the best versions of ourselves. And honestly, that’s what I want for each and every person reading my blog: To be the best version of yourself. I’ll give you some motivational shit to help get you going. However it all starts with you taking action and doing what you feels right to make the best possible version of yourself you can be.
